After replacing my 17" CRT with this monitor, I was initally blown away at the size of this monitor. It was like going from a 25" T.V. to a 45" plasma. The colors are excellent, and it has a menu to set the coloring for different things, e.g. scenery, portrait, vivid, cinema, etc. as well as a manual setting to do the same. Skin tones can also be set, as well as contrast, brightness, and several other nice functions.
I have noticed no out of place pixels, and the color, clarity and resolution is very, very good over the entrie screen. The menu buttons take a little getting use to, but prove to be no problem. You can also tilt the monitor either up or back from the stand that it is mounted on..
There is not much in documentation, but the inital setup is quite easy, with patch cables being supplied for a couple of different setups. Really, all other functions of the monitor are menu driven, and should you get confused, it has a "factory reset" button on it where it will revert back to the initial "out of the box" settings. I do not use the speakers in the ViewSonic as I have a set of Altec Lansing speakers with subwoofer, but the audio cord is also supplied should you elect to use the monitor's speakers.
I purchased this product from Costco for $299, and thought it was quite an excellent buy. I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking to upgrade from a smaller monitor.
Pros: Big, Bright, Clear Picture and Priced Right!
Cons: Small menu buttons

This is a fantastic Widescreen 22" monitor. I use it for video editing and the colors are crisp and sharp. The speakers work great for reference and the overall look of this monitor is black laquer and silver. The height of the monitor is MUCH better than its competitors, it sits up a little higher which, I feel lines up with eye level while positioned at a desk. The others seem to try to sit as flat and close to the bottom as possible which results in hunching shoulders and looking down.

The cons show up in the price in that this monitor sells consistently higher (+$70) than the acer, dell, and samsung monitors for the same 22" size. Its a great monitor but not quite THAT great.

Its also just 750:1 resolution compared to most 1000:1 monitors out there today. But believe me, this is only a slight 'con'. I have this Viewsonic right next to an Acer
with 1000:1 resolution and the Viewsonic BLOWS the Acer away. Its a bummer because I needed them to match, but who knew?

The Viewsonic comes with built-in speakers which is great but to access the audio controls you need to toggle these "recessed buttons" on the front which makes it difficult to begin with THEN you have to go about 2 or 3 menus deep to access the mute and volume controls. This model is also lacking a headphone output so I still have to run my headphones to a deck or to my computer. This is no fun when you like to get up and funk out to some sick techno and end up in a ball of headphone wire on the floor.
Still the Acer, Dell, and most Samsung models lack speakers and/or a headphone output.

The viewsonic compatibility gets 5 stars because they offer BOTH VGA and DVI. So if you bust an old school computer, you are all set with the VGA (cable included!) if you're like me and rule the Earth with the latest greatest technology, then you just hook up DVI and get your true HD picture while watching youtube videos of some fool dancing to techno while tangled in headphones cables. However, the DVI cable was NOT included in my box but you may want to double check. They may have wised up and started included those as well.
Pros: Look, speakers, and Quality
Cons: Price, Menu access
